The following is an example of a five day program, however shorter stays are easily arranged and accommodated at Kangaroobie.

  • FARM ACTIVITIES: Kangaroobie is an operating 850 hectare farm with carpet wool sheep and beef cattle as the main enterprises. Any activities are seasonally related as we believe that groups should understand the basic management of the farming system. The groups will be guided around the farm and will help the farmer with activities such as feeding cows, mustering sheep, feeding pigs, sheep shearing and other farming procedures.

  • After the sun goes down an evening visit to the beautiful rainforest at Melba Gully is recommended.  With the large tree ferns, enormous trees and spectacular Glow worms it is an exciting and unique adventure for all age groups.  (A bus will be needed to get to Melba Gully - about ½ an hour drive)

Day Three:

  • Visit FLAGSTAFF HILL and MARITIME MUSEUM in Warrnambool which tells of the history of the early settlers, whalers and shipwrecks of Australia.  Staff are available to assist with groups for interpretation
  • Explore TOWER HILL - a spectacular extinct volcano, where you will be able to see Emus, Kangaroos and Koalas.  Aboriginal interpretation is available at Tower Hill through the Worn Gundidj cooperative.  Staff can guide students on a range of topics including Music and Language, Traditional Games, Hunting and Gathering or Traditional Dance.  The Koorie interpretation program is available at a cost of $5 per student at Tower Hill or $7 per student at Kangaroobie.
  • For the adventurous souls, surfing and horse riding are  now available in Warrnambool and can be included into the program for the day.

OR

  • Visit Cape Otway Lightstation and participate in their Student Program 'Kidzone'.  This activity would take a whole day and could include a visit to Melba Gully on the way back and a barbeque dinner.

  • At night a trivia quiz or disco is always a hit with the students

Day Four:

  • Spend an exciting day exploring the Otway National Park and crossing the Gellibrand River on a raft, walking over the sand dunes to the beach to enjoy lunch and beach activities.
  • On the last night of camp the tradition of the camp concert is a must for the students!

Day Five:

  • Depart Kangaroobie and travel along the Great Ocean Road visiting the beautiful coastal scenery of the Port Campbell National Park (including The Twelve Apostles & Loch Ard Gorge) before heading back to school.
